Hannah Wagar has studied piano for 22 years, including six years of collegiate level studies and has been teaching piano since 2005. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, summa cum laude, from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2011, including the performance of two solo concert performances un the direction of Dr. Eduard Zilberkant.
Her goal as a piano instructor is to provide the solid foundation needed for developing the musical abilities of young musicians while inspiring them to enjoy sharing their music for the enjoyment and aid of others and encouraging a love of music as a valuable part of each student’s life.
Rose is studying Violin Performance and Music Education at UAF. She graduated from highschool in Fairbanks and attended Fairbanks Summer Music Academy for many years as a student and a mentor. When not practicing her violin, she teaches a private violin studio, performs around Fairbanks with the Nanook String Quartet and attends music festivals throughout the Lower 48.
Ariana Horner was born in Wrangell, Alaska and soon after moved to the northern desert of Nome. She grew up performing all her life with her family and friends, continuing to do so throughout high school. She attended the state Solo and Ensemble Music Festival all four years, receiving a superior rating her junior and senior years, along with an honorable mention her senior year. She also attended All-State Choir her sophomore, junior, and senior years. During this time she was inspired by her father, who was also her music teacher, to pursue a degree in music education. Ariana is now looking to start her fourth year at the University of Alaska Fairbanks under the instruction of Dr. Jaunelle Celaire. Ariana has completed such works as Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, Turandot by Puccini, and the Brahms Requiem with the Fairbanks Symphony Chorus, and Orchestra. She continues to compete in such competitions as the Opera Fairbanks Concerto Competition, the Anchorage Concert Chorus Competition, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition. She most recently gave a Sophomore recital and will be giving her degree fulfilling Junior recital next spring.
Ariana is involved with NAFME(National Association for Music Educators), has begun lessons with the approval of her instructor, Dr. Celaire, and has started teaching a kindergarten music class at a local day care center, Open Arms.
Born and raised in Southeast Alaska, Scott Hansen is an undergraduate student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, pursuing degrees in both Music Composition and Piano Performance. He has been named Outstanding Music Major for the 2016-2017 academic year and was awarded the Outstanding Freshman award for 2014-2015, his first year of studies at UAF. He is entering his fourth year studying under Dr. Eduard Zilberkant and preparing his junior piano recital while also studying composition under Dr. William Post of UAF and Dr. Stephen Lias of SFAU in Texas. A member of the summer 2017 Opera Fairbanks orchestra, Scott is also an active performer in the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra and UAF Wind Symphony percussion sections. He has completed works in Choir of the North under direction of Dr. Jaunelle Celaire, the Fairbanks Symphony Chorus under Dr. Lorna Eder, and in the Fairbanks Sumer Arts Festival Orchestra and Chorus under Robert Franz and Emerson Eads. Scott has had compositions premiered by both the UAF Wind Symphony and the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra during his studies at UAF, in addition to scoring multiple award-winning short films by Alaska filmmaker Silas Firth.
